Clay “The Lag Doctor” Ballard
I’ve been teaching golf forever. But I am really a student and teacher of biomechanics. I have always enjoyed studying the best players of all sports.
I’ve played some tennis for a long time but really got passionate about it a few years ago. As I was practicing, I realized a couple things:
- I had to work through and solve many of the same issues you’ve come across
- My background with sports biomechanics helped me solve these issues faster than most people
It was then obvious that I needed to share my knowledge with others who would like to improve faster by understanding how the body works.
So, that’s where the mechanics part of our unique instructional approach comes from. The athleticism side of our program resulted from my study of motor learning applied to sports.
I’m always looking to improve my teaching and will continue applying the latest research in these areas to give you the best instructional program around. If you’ve ever got recommendations for new content or questions about current stuff, just post a comment or contact us.
Thanks for checking out the site!

Well, Clay’s the athlete in the company. He’s also got the looks…and brains. I guess it’s a good thing I know just enough about usability, website creation, and online marketing to be able to ride his coattails 🙂
So, my story is pretty typical…
In 2000, I graduated from “the Harvard of the Midwest” (Drury University), where I specialized in economics and Elvis impersonating.
Never being much of a car guy, I jumped at the chance to move to Detroit and work for Ford Motor Company in Detroit for 9 years. (Yes, that’s the exact period their stock price nosedived. Coincidence, I assure you.)
After surviving in corporate finance for almost a decade, I left to work — for free, of course — at an online golf instruction company, where I met Clay. We did some great things there, I eventually earned a nice paycheck, and I learned a lot about running a membership website for sports instruction.
But I had missed working for free so much that I got antsy and left the golf industry to start this business with Clay. (My beautiful wife, pictured above, wasn’t so excited about my lack of income, but as you can see, she’s a little crazy, too!)
What I love about my decision is that I’ve now got the chance to provide something to YOU that no one else has done yet:
An easy-to-use, step-by-step online instructional system for sports.
Most sports instruction websites throw a bunch of unorganized, random videos at you and expect you to figure it all out. Others claim to have an ordered program but fall short of that in reality.
We’ve set out to change all that.
What you see now is still in the early stages of development. But with your help, we’ll make this the best online experience available for tennis instruction.
Just be sure to constantly give us feedback about how the site can be improved for you. I’m not a real serious guy, but I promise to take your recommendations seriously.
Thanks for stopping by! We hope to see a lot more of you!
